There were 35.2 billion ACH Network payments made in 2025, valued at $93 trillion, according to Reston, Va.-based Nacha, which governs the ACH Network. Among originating financial institutions, the Top 50 handled ACH volume of 30.7 billion payments last year, up 4.7% from 2024. They accounted for 91.4% of the ACH Network’s total commercial payments volume.
The Top 50 receiving institutions had ACH payment volume of 23 billion, an increase of 6.4% over 2024. These institutions accounted for 65.1% of total volume on the ACH Network, inclusive of payments received from the federal government.
One credit union cracked the list of Top 50 ACH Originators and seven CUs were in the Top 50 of ACH Receivers.

“Financial institutions are the foundation of securely sending and receiving ACH payments on behalf of people and organizations,” said Michael Herd, Nacha EVP, ACH Network Administration. “From direct deposits that make payday dependable, to bills and vendor payments that are made on time, to account transfers for savings and financial management, and hundreds of other uses, the ACH Network is at the heart of the U.S. payments system.”
Nacha also reported 6.9 billion “off-Network” ACH payments last year. Those are primarily “on-us” ACH payments for which the originating and receiving financial institution are the same, and therefore not submitted to an ACH Operator. Including these off-Network payments, total ACH payment volume for 2025 was 42.1 billion, up 4.6% over 2024.
