After last week’s announcement, at $3.6B, Oxylabs became the world’s highest-valued web data infrastructure platform.

After announcing $130M investment by Warburg Pincus, last week Oxylabs officially became the world’s highest-valued web data infrastructure platform, with market value of at $3.6B. The company sees the investment as marking a rise of interest in the industry providing compliant web data access to the emerging technologies, such as AI agents.

"As AI agents begin to navigate the web far more than humans ever have, the future belongs to the data infrastructure that grounds these systems in real-time, reliable flow of knowledge. This is exactly what Oxylabs has spent the last decade building," said Vytautas Savickas, CEO at Oxylabs.

The private equity appeal of markets supporting AI is partly boosted by major IPOs and IPO filings by leading AI companies.

“The whole AI industry steps into its new stage as Anthropic and OpenAI announce IPO filings. As these companies approach public markets, it makes sense for private investors to look at the support system without which AI could not function the way we want it to. Web data access at scale, for example, is necessary if we want AI agents to complete tasks online,” said Savickas.

The second reason for the growing investor appeal Oxylabs sees in the fact that the web data infrastructure market itself is maturing and its reputable segment is crystallizing.

"At this time, especially as we are receiving validation by private equity firms, it is becoming clear that the winning strategy in our industry is combining innovation with compliance. Now, as those who did not invest enough in compliance or KYC fall, the ones that are left will have extensive patent portfolios, and robust practices and procedures in place. In other words, AI web data access will be provided by fewer companies, but it will be those that survived the toughest scrutiny and spent years building actual proprietary knowledge," said Savickas.

The investment patterns in AI and web data access industries also seem to converge. While SpaceX announced plans of investing more in AI before IPO and bought the AI developer tool Cursor immediately afterwards, Oxylabs is also open about its plans for AI.

"As the market shifts toward agentic search, we are further developing our product portfolio, including web index, headless browser, and other cutting-edge solutions. The next generation of AI won't be powered by static indexes that only capture yesterday's internet. For it to work at enterprise grade, the infrastructure behind them is key: the scale, speed, reliability, and compliance required to make open-web knowledge usable in real-time production," concludes Savickas.
