U.S. Rep. Maxwell Frost Discusses Pressing Issues Affecting Credit Unions...

...Congressman meets with Central Florida Credit Union Leaders at Addition Financial Credit Union Branch in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla (Jan. 8, 2024) - U.S. Representative Maxwell Frost recently convened with key leaders from several Central Florida credit unions for a vital discussion on numerous topics crucial to credit unions and the communities they serve. The meeting was organized by The League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates and hosted by Addition Financial Credit Union at their credit union branch on North Mills Avenue in Orlando.

Among the key issues addressed in the discussion were the funding levels for the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund, credit card interchange fees, affordable housing lending, small business lending, and the imperative of providing financial services to underserved communities. The meeting facilitated a meaningful exchange of ideas and perspectives of how potential legislation and federal funding decisions could benefit the Central Florida community financially.

“As not-for-profit institutions, credit unions exist solely to foster the financial well-being of the communities we serve, so issues that affect us impact our members as well,” said Kevin Miller, President and CEO of Addition Financial Credit Union. “We are grateful to Representative Frost for taking the time to discuss how legislation put forth in D.C. that concerns credit unions can ultimately make a real difference in the financial lives of members in our community.”

Representative Frost, who shared at the event he is a longstanding member of Addition Financial Credit Union, expressed his commitment to understanding the challenges faces by credit unions and ensured that their concerns will be heard at the federal level.
