Tower Federal Credit Union Selects Mort AI for Mortgage Underwriting

Housetable rebrands as Mort AI, bringing its AI mortgage underwriting platform to the $5 billion credit union
NEW YORK CITY and LAUREL, Md., Oct. 19, 2026 — Tower Federal Credit Union has selected Mort AI, Housetable’s AI mortgage underwriting platform, for deployment across its mortgage operation. Housetable also announced today that it is rebranding as Mort AI, reflecting its growing focus on mortgage underwriting technology. Its renovation and construction lending platform continues to operate and grow under the Housetable name.
As part of the partnership, Mort will work alongside and integrate directly with Tower’s loan origination system, reviewing the documents and data already moving through a mortgage file so that loan officers, processors, and underwriters continue working in the systems and processes they already use. The platform reads borrower documents, compares them with the loan application, evaluates the file against the lender’s underwriting guidelines, identifies outstanding conditions, drafts the outreach needed to resolve them, and helps determine when those conditions have been satisfied.
Mort is built for the parts of underwriting that rules alone cannot settle, where the question is whether the file holds together as a whole. For each finding, Mort shows the supporting source documents and explains the basis for its recommendation.
“Six years working inside mortgage operations, alongside loan officers, processors, and underwriters, showed us what AI can do in this industry when it is built around the expertise of the people who work the files every day,” said David Benizri, Co-Founder and CEO of Mort AI. “Tower’s team knows this business in detail and sets a high bar for what it puts in front of its members and employees, which is why expanding the relationship into its mortgage operation is an important milestone for us.”
Identifying conditions and tasks is only half the work. When a finding requires information the file does not contain, Mort drafts the request for the party who can supply it, whether that is the borrower, an employer, or a title company, stating what is missing and why it is being asked for. When a file calls for an underwriter’s judgment, Mort lays out the relevant facts with their source documents so the decision can be made and documented quickly.
Mort does not make credit decisions. Nothing it drafts is sent without review and approval, and the lender’s underwriting team remains responsible for each file and every lending decision.
“Credit unions are particularly well positioned for this generation of technology because they often hold loans on their own balance sheets and design mortgage products around their members,” Benizri said. “When a credit union originates a mortgage, it wants to understand the whole file and the member behind it. Mort helps the lending team see that full picture early in the process, so members get clear answers sooner and every decision is backed by a well-documented file.”
“We’ve worked with the Housetable team since 2024, and they understand how credit unions lend and serve their members. Mort will help our team identify what each loan needs earlier in the process and clearly understand why, allowing us to keep members informed and their loans moving forward,” said Nancy Hauft, Vice President of Real Estate Lending at Tower Federal Credit Union.
The deployment expands a relationship that began in 2024, when Housetable helped Tower build its renovation lending program from the ground up. The Housetable platform supports project administration, draws, contractor payments, and construction oversight. That program is ongoing and continues to grow, at Tower and with other lending partners.
