SELCO Community Credit Union Announces Retirement Of Senior Vp Craig Carpenter

Longtime lending leader concludes more than two decades of service to the Oregon credit union and the communities it serves

(SPRINGFIELD, Ore.) — SELCO Community Credit Union recently announced the upcoming retirement of Craig Carpenter, Senior Vice President of Lending & Business Banking. The announcement follows a career spanning more than 20 years with SELCO and four decades in the financial services industry.

Carpenter joined SELCO in 2003, establishing SELCO’s Commercial Lending & Business Banking division, and has since been a key leader in shaping the credit union’s business development and credit administration functions. As Senior Vice President of Lending & Business Banking, he leads the credit union’s consumer lending, commercial and business banking, and mortgage service areas while helping guide strategic planning and organizational performance across the institution. At various times throughout his career, Craig has overseen SELCO’s investment and retirement services, insurance services, marketing, business development, and community involvement teams.

Before joining SELCO, Carpenter served as a Commercial Loan Officer and Branch Manager at Washington Mutual Bank in Springfield. Earlier in his career, he held the positions of Credit Administration Officer and Branch Manager at West One Bank in Boise, Idaho, and Junction City, Oregon, and also built extensive expertise in agricultural, commercial, and consumer lending as a Commercial Loan Officer at West One Bank in Mountain Home, Idaho.

Throughout his career, Carpenter has remained deeply engaged in community service. He has served on the Springfield Chamber Gateway Development Committee, Junction City Chamber of Commerce, and the Southern Willamette Valley Prison Advisory Committee, along with numerous other chamber, civic, and nonprofit leadership roles across Oregon and Idaho. As the longtime Chair of SELCO’s Operations & Marketing Committee, he has also been instrumental in launching and evolving SELCO’s various educational support initiatives, including SELCO’s student scholarships, creative educator grants, and classroom makeovers.

Carpenter graduated from Eastern Oregon University with a bachelor’s degree in business and economics. In his retirement, he plans to spend more time enjoying his lifelong passions of traveling, fishing, and the great outdoors.

“It has been a privilege to work alongside such talented colleagues and serve SELCO’s members for so many years,” Carpenter said. “I am proud of what we’ve accomplished together and look forward to seeing the credit union continue to grow and evolve to meet our communities where they are.”

Carpenter’s last day at SELCO will be April 3. In the meantime, he will serve in his current role while helping SELCO transition his duties.
