Billed as bringing together credit unions, broker-dealers that support credit unions, and fintechs dedicated to advancing wealth management for credit unions and their members, the Credit Union WealthTech Conference debuts September 21-23, 2025 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville.

“It’s sort of the next step as we invest in our technology and we take on these applications, and we try to chat them [fintech services] up with other credit unions that are out there,” Mission Fed Credit Union’s CFO Ron Araujo said during a recent CUbroadcast webinar hosted by founder Mike Lawson.

The $6 billion San Diego-based credit union supports more than 300,000 members. “I think we do have to have a space and a credit union directed space where we can all come together and have conversations about this,” Araujo, who will attend the conference, continued. “Mission Fed is in the same situation that other credit unions are right now, which is we have the ability, we have the trust, and we want to be able to actually grow what we do for members.”

Serving the Next Generation of Members

Along with presentations, showcases and networking opportunities, organizers noted of the “first of its kind” event: “This exclusive event is designed for credit union wealth business and digital leaders to network, learn, and collaborate with peers and industry partners to position you, your credit union, and your members for success.”

Among sessions are “Observations and Opportunities to Better Serve Broader Member Segments,” “From Stablecoins to Smart Wealth: The Future of Digital Assets in Credit Unions,” and “Broker Dealer Perspectives.”

The opening keynote address will be delivered by Goalsetter CEO Tanya Van Court. “We are in the greatest opportunity credit unions have ever seen, even larger than Bank Transfer Day. An unprecedented generational wealth transfer is underway—and credit unions are uniquely positioned to seize it,” organizers stated. “Tanya will reveal the true scale of this opportunity and why wealth services must become a core strategy for deposit and loan growth. Tanya will challenge traditional thinking and offer a strategic roadmap for how credit unions can attract the next generation of members, retain assets across generations, and solidify their role in members' financial lives. This is more than a moment—it’s a movement.”

Powerful Alliances

In April 2024, Finopotamus featured Van Court in its “Women in Technology” profile series. Brooklyn, N.Y-based, Goalsetter works with credit unions and banks to provide a youth banking solution that is based on a holistic financial education and empowerment platform.

“Every fight I’ve ever seen has clear allies and clear opposition. There are certainly fintechs that are competing against credit unions and venture capitalists are funding them to usurp the millions of members that credit unions are serving today and/or the future generations that they will serve tomorrow,” Van Court said.

“Without [like-minded] fintechs who are enabling credit unions to launch new technologies and serve the next generation of members, credit unions will struggle to compete,” she continued. “But [working] hand-in-hand with these fintechs, credit unions can form powerful alliances that allow them to win the day.”
