MSU Federal Credit Union Surpasses 400,000 Members, Celebrating a Milestone Nearly 90 Years in the Making
EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) has officially surpassed 400,000 members, marking a significant milestone in the credit union’s nearly 90-year history and reaffirming its commitment to helping members achieve their financial goals while strengthening the communities it serves.
To celebrate reaching 400,000 members, MSUFCU spent the summer recognizing members through a series of promotions, giveaways, and special offers designed to encourage engagement with products and services that support financial well-being. The Celebrate 400 campaign drove strong member participation while also providing opportunities to recognize and celebrate the employees whose dedication helped make the milestone possible.
“Reaching 400,000 members is an important milestone, but what means the most to me is the trust that 400,000 people have placed in us,” said April Clobes, MSUFCU President and CEO. “We don’t grow just to be bigger. We grow so we can help more people improve their financial well-being, deliver excellent experiences, and create more opportunities for our communities to thrive. Every new member increases our ability to invest in the products, services, and partnerships that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.”

Throughout the Celebrate 400 campaign, members had the opportunity to qualify for a sweepstakes featuring a Polaris Ranger 500 utility vehicle, which traveled to several MSUFCU branches across Michigan. A total of 1,326 members qualified for the sweepstakes, with Cynthia Brown of Warren selected as the grand prize winner.
“I’ve been a member since 2025 and I love it. You have great customer service. It’s amazing,” Brown said after picking up the vehicle at MSUFCU Headquarters.
The milestone reflects a journey that began nearly 90 years ago when MSUFCU was founded out of a desk drawer on the Michigan State University campus during the Great Depression. Established to help university faculty and staff access affordable financial services and meet everyday needs, the credit union has remained focused on improving lives and supporting members through every stage of their financial journey.
While MSUFCU has expanded into communities throughout Michigan and Illinois, it remains deeply connected to its roots within the Michigan State University community.
