LMCU Announces the Winner of Its 2026 $50,000 Home Makeover Sweepstakes

Grand Rapids, MI (August 7, 2026) – Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU) is pleased to share the name and story of its 2026 $50,000 Home Makeover Sweepstakes winner: Sarah S., of Muskegon, Michigan.

Each year, LMCU gives away $50,000 to one lucky Michigan or Florida resident to use toward a renovation, vacation, or whatever else the winner chooses. Entrants can enter once per day during the sweepstakes period, with LMCU members earning extra daily entries this year by logging in to their LMCU accounts.

As a result, this year's sweepstakes entries far exceeded any year prior, with over 11.6 million submissions received online and at LMCU’s branches between March 31 and June 25, 2026. Several of those entries came from Sarah, who was alerted over the phone about her family’s big win by LMCU President & CEO Julie Leonard herself.

“The theme of this year’s sweepstakes was ‘win–win,’ because even if someone doesn’t win the big $50,000 prize, they can still win a little every day by banking with us,” Leonard said. “It means a lot to be able to deliver such good news to a young family like Sarah’s — and give them a big headstart on funding their future plans — but it means just as much to help Sarah and all our 655,000+ members achieve their financial dreams for a lifetime by giving them the tools they need to do more with their money.”

Sarah, who has banked with LMCU since 2010, shared how the credit union has supported her over the years, as well as how her $50k winnings will continue that trend.

“I joined LMCU right after I got my first job, and I’ve had no reason to switch ever since. Their Online Banking is so easy, and their auto loans really helped us get a bigger car when I was pregnant with our second,” she said. “Now, we’re definitely going to do some work on our house, pay off some bills, and overall just ease some financial burden on us.
