RENO, NV – Great Basin Federal Credit Union (Great Basin FCU) is proud to announce the success of its partnership with Communities in Schools of Western Nevada through the organization’s annual Giving Trees program, helping bring holiday joy to hundreds of local children and families.
Giving Trees were placed in all four Great Basin FCU branch locations, inviting members, employees, and community members to select gift tags and donate items to students supported by Communities in Schools. Through this collective effort, Great Basin FCU helped fulfill 240 gift tags – supporting 240 local children, while collecting more than 1,500 donated items and gifts.
In total, the Giving Trees initiative resulted in $28,000 in in-kind donations, along with $860.59 in monetary contributions. In addition, Great Basin FCU employees volunteered 18 hours of their time to help wrap gifts and prepare donations for delivery.
“This partnership is a true reflection of what it means to be a community-focused credit union,” said Gerardina Rodriguez, Community Relations Manager at Great Basin FCU. “Seeing our branches come together to support the Giving Trees was incredibly meaningful. Every tag filled represents a child who felt seen, supported, and cared for this holiday season.”
Rodriguez added, “We are grateful to our members, employees, and community partners who showed up with such generosity. These efforts go beyond gifts. They help create stability, confidence, and hope for students and families across our community.”
Communities in Schools of Western Nevada works to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Great Basin FCU’s participation in the Giving Trees program aligns with the credit union’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the communities it serves.
