The CUNA Operations & Member Experience and Technology Councils held their joint annual conference at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas Sept. 20-24. This marked the return of the Speed Round sessions, an audience favorite, according to Senior Vice President of Culture and Employee Experience for NC State Employees Credit Union Mia Perez, who served as emcee for the sessions.
The speed rounds were divided into two sessions, one the morning of Sept. 22 and the other in the afternoon. Each session consisted of 11 exhibitor/presenters. Each exhibitor was given five minutes to present, followed by two minutes of questions from a panel of judges (who served more as interviewers than judges).
The three judges were Vice President of Deposit Operations Amy Coe from MSU Federal Credit Union, Chief Information Officer Chris Kearney from TruWest Credit Union, and Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Chris Otey from Credit Union 2.0.
The Winners
Attendees were invited to vote for their favorite presentation after each session. A winner was named for each session, as well as an overall Best of Show winner. The winners were:
Morning Session: Nuance, presented by Rachel Muench, fraud and biometric specialist, and Amy Travers, vice president of security and biometrics, who showcased Nuance Gatekeeper, a robust authentication product based on voice biometrics.
Afternoon Session: Eltropy, presented Tim Pranger, vice president of product strategy, who showcased his company’s recently acquired POPi/o video banking solution.
Best of Show: DoubleCheck Solutions (which also won Best of Show honors at this years CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference), presented by Joel Schwartz, founder and co-CEO, who showcased his company’s innovative overdraft management solution.
