Albuquerque, NM – CU Anytime has installed its first shared branch video teller in Quemado, New Mexico, marking a major step forward in expanding financial access for credit union members in rural communities.  Catron County, NM, where Quemado is located, has a population of approximately 3,900 people and covers 6,929 square miles.

The new video teller allows members of participating credit unions to speak directly with a teller and perform a wide range of transactions at a video teller machine. Members can access all deposit and loan accounts available through the shared branch network, including services such as cash loan payments and account-to-account transfers. Standard ATM services remain available at the same machine.

Credit unions' unique philosophy positions them to be key players in the fight for financial inclusion and the empowerment of underserved communities. According to data analysis by America's Credit Unions[1], in 2025 credit unions expanded access to consumers via branch locations, with over 1.5 million more having reasonable access to credit union branch locations currently compared to 2019. By placing video tellers into rural and indigenous communities, CU Anytime is cooperating with our credit unions to implement technology that is designed to help people conveniently perform financial transactions.

“We’re thrilled to bring this innovative solution to rural communities, giving members a similar level of service they would expect at a branch,” said Stephen Anderson, CEO of CU Anytime. “This is just the beginning. We’re committed to expanding this technology across our footprint in 2027 to make financial access easier and more convenient for everyone.’’

For credit unions using the shared branch video tellers, CU Anytime is responsible for providing the teller services as well as balancing and reconciliation, deposit proofing, and disputes processing for the machine. CU Anytime is staffed to provide these services so that credit unions do not need to invest the capital into supporting a video teller platform.
