Coastal Credit Union Promotes Michelle Shelton to Chief Operations Officer

 RALEIGH, N.C. (March 24, 2025) – Coastal Credit Union has named Michelle Shelton as Chief Operations Officer. In her new role, Shelton will oversee Coastal’s retail branch network, member contact centers, and wealth management division. She will develop and implement strategic plans to deepen member relationships, increase product adoption, and steward member financial well-being. Her teams will collaborate across business units to drive sales, ensure frictionless operations, and build a consultative service mindset across the organization.

Shelton has led the Coastal’s Marketing team since December 2023 and has had a tremendous positive impact on the entire credit union. She has demonstrated an excellent ability to collaborate across departments, restructure marketing, and set a high standard for her peers. Her perspective, along with her prior executive-level experience, will be an excellent addition to the Executive Leadership Team.

Shelton has 25 years of experience in financial services, including 10 years of executive leadership over marketing, branch, and call center teams. Prior to coming to Coastal, she was a C-suite leader in credit unions in Nevada, California, Illinois, and Georgia. A native of Calgary, Alberta, Shelton holds an MBA in Financial Services from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
