Coastal Credit Union Names Tyler Grodi President & CEO

RALEIGH, N.C. (February 6, 2023) – Coastal Credit Union’s board of directors announced today that Tyler Grodi will become its next President & CEO, effective April 1. Grodi will succeed Chuck Purvis, who is retiring at the end of March after 11 years at the helm of the organization.

“The board is excited to have Tyler join Coastal,” said Joan Nelson, Coastal’s board chair. “Our search began with a slate of wonderfully diverse and accomplished candidates. In the end, we found a leader with the experience and proven track record that will be the key to our success; and one who offers an inspirational vision for Coastal that both respects where we are today, and outlines a path forward that values our employees, our members, and our community.”

Grodi shared his excitement by saying, “I’m humbled and honored by the opportunity to work with such an incredible team and board. Together, we’ll build upon Coastal’s reputation and foundation of strength, technology and member experience. I’m looking forward to becoming a part of the Coastal family, delivering financial well-being to our members, and being a good neighbor to our community.”

Grodi is joining Coastal from EFCU Financial in Baton Rouge, LA, where he has served as CEO for the past 11 years. Prior to that, he was Chief Financial Officer at Black Hills Federal Credit Union in Rapid City, SD. His career serving credit unions spans 23 years. An Ohio native, Grodi holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Bowling Green State University.

Coastal’s board of directors enlisted D. Hilton Associates, Inc. to conduct the executive search.
