For the eighth successive year, Boston Fintech Week will explore how artificial intelligence (AI) platforms are tackling challenges facing the financial services industry. With the theme “The New Frontier,” the event is hosted by Fintech Sandbox, a nonprofit that provides early-stage startups around the world with free access to critical datasets and infrastructure through its Data Access Residency. The main, two-day, ticketed conference, known as the Fintech Sandbox Innovation Forum, will take place on September 16th and 17th at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston located at 600 Atlantic Avenue.

“Boston Fintech Week, presented by Fintech Sandbox, is where innovation meets action as we bring together the brightest minds in financial services to shape what’s next,” said Sarah Biller, co-founder of Fintech Sandbox.
Expanding the Fintech Ecosystem
Last year, the event welcomed 3,000 attendees and featured more than 125 speakers across 55 sessions, with participants from 10 countries. “Our programming at Boston Fintech Week allows us to continue our support of our expansive community of students, entrepreneurs and industry leaders,” MassMutual Fintech Hub Co-Chair and Head of Enterprise Technology and Experience Sears Merritt said of the 2024 gathering. “We wouldn’t be able to be here without our members and our broader community, and we welcome the opportunity to gather as a group to solve for not only today’s challenges, but also the future.”
Biller explained the conference began in 2017 as “grassroots gathering that enabled collaboration with the local community and broader fintech ecosystem.” The result today: an inclusive platform for dialogue among industry leaders and emerging fintechs, globally.
“This year’s theme, ‘The New Frontier’ dives us deeper into the changes coming to financial services because of artificial intelligence. For a decade, Fintech Sandbox has enabled entrepreneurs from across the globe to access the data they need to innovate in an industry undergoing rapid change,” Biller noted.
Among speakers at this year’s event is Posh CEO and Co-Founder Karan Kashyap, AI Squared Chief AI Officer Michelle Bonat, The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston Deputy Director Brian Clarke, and Digital Federal Credit Union (DCU) Senior Vice President Member Experience, Digital and Marketing Sue Burton.
Along with fireside chats, keynote speeches and networking breakouts, attendees can choose from sessions such as “Sparking a Chain Reaction: Data Science, Nudges and the Possibility of Personalized Insurance,” “Agentic AI in Banking: Do It For Me,” “How Quantum Computing Will Change the Industry Forever,” “Stormy Weather: Building Climate Resilience With New Datasets and AI,” and “Mo stablecoins, mo problems,” among many others.
“Our partnership with start-ups, leading data companies and industry innovators has put us at the center of the AI revolution, and we are excited to bring all these perspectives together in one place to discuss and debate where we are heading,” Biller added.
