AmeriCU Credit Union Chief Talent Officer to Retire After Career of Leadership and Service
ROME, NY – SEPTEMBER 23, 2026: After years of helping shape the employee experience and organization’s culture, Chief Talent Officer Karen LaPlante is preparing to retire. During her career, Karen has helped lead AmeriCU’s Human Resources Department while also serving as president of the AmeriCU Charitable Foundation.
Karen joined AmeriCU because she was drawn to the organization's commitment to serving members, employees, and the communities it serves. She saw an opportunity to contribute to an organization with a strong culture and purpose-driven mission. Throughout that journey, Karen says the most meaningful part of her career has been the people she has worked with.
“More than any individual achievement, I am most proud of the people I've had the opportunity to work with and support throughout my career,” said Karen. “I leave with immense pride in what we've accomplished together and confidence in the future of AmeriCU.”
Among the accomplishments she is most proud of is building and leading a talented Human Resources, Learning & Development, and Talent team that continually puts employees first. She also considers her role as president of the AmeriCU Charitable Foundation especially meaningful, as it gave her the opportunity to be part of the foundation's work to give back to the communities AmeriCU serves.
As she looks towards retirement, Karen is looking forward to spending more time with family and friends and exploring new places. She also plans to stay active professionally through consulting and mentoring opportunities that allow her to continue contributing while enjoying greater flexibility.
