Supported by more than 45 partners, the platform ensures the continuity of European AI collaboration and accelerates the impact of future research.

Brussels, 16th December 2025 - The AI-on-Demand (AIoD) platform confirms the successful culmination of a year of growth and a strategic evolution in its mission to unify Europe's Artificial Intelligence capabilities. Its global community, spanning more than 200 countries, has contributed over one million resources (1,022,256), confirming our role as the continent's most crucial hub for shared AI assets. This achievement coincides with the strategic launch of a dual-gateway structure, designed to accelerate the transfer of research directly into market solutions and public-sector deployment.

As a one-stop shop, the AIoD platform provides the community with validated resources, cutting-edge tools, and a trusted network that supports every stage of the European AI innovation lifecycle.

Strategic growth and core mission

This year demonstrated the successful scaling of the AIoD mission, supported by more than 45 partners across Europe. We are successfully integrating the vast intellectual capital of the research community with the critical market’s needs. This dual-focus system now explicitly unifies two powerful gateways: one for research and innovation, and another for industry and the public sector, guaranteeing tailored support for the entire AI value chain. This evolution secures the platform’s role as a permanent and essential fixture in Europe’s digital future.

Community impact and quantifiable milestones

The active participation and quantifiable impact of our community defined the platform’s success:

  • Global reach: More than 2,000 users across 70 countries.

  • Active engagement: The community drove 263 events292 news items, and 58 Success Stories, alongside 106 hosted projects.

  • Ecosystem mapping: 302 mapped organisations are actively integrating their work into the European AI ecosystem via the platform.

"This year’s record contributions from over one million AI resources to 58 Success Stories confirm the strength of our community. The AIoD Platform's strategic evolution is now dedicated to guaranteeing the long-term collaboration and technological sovereignty required for Europe’s AI future," says Barry O’Sullivan, the Coordinator of AI4Europe’s project, which, alongside DeployAI, supports and manages the AI-on-Demand Platform.

Tool development and forward momentum

Throughout the year, we delivered key updates to our tooling suite to improve usability and better support innovation. This included major enhancements to RAIL and the AI-Builder, making it easier to create, run, and share AI experiments. We also advanced several core services: the Forums and Pool of Experts (to enable meaningful human collaboration), the AI Catalogue (to quickly find and bookmark AI resources), the Metadata Contribution App (to upload and curate AI assets), and the RoboCompass tool (to navigate non-technological challenges in robotics adoption). Together, these improvements strengthen the platform as it moves into its next phase. To further support users, the Talk2AIoD chatbot now helps visitors navigate the platform, understand how to use its tools, and quickly find what they need.

The work achieved under AIoD is currently setting the stage for our continuous evolution. This forward momentum focuses on ensuring the long-term sustainability and operational management of the European AI ecosystem.

Background and funding

The AI-on-Demand Platform is developed through two complementary grants funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe and Digital Europe Programmes: AI4Europe (€9M) and DeployAI (€28M). AI4Europe, led by the University of Cork, brings together 24 partners focused on expanding and enhancing the AIoD ecosystem for researchers, academics, innovators, and SMEs. The project started in June 2022 and will conclude in December 2025. DeployAI, coordinated by Fraunhofer IAIS, brings together 28 partners across 13 countries and will run from January 2024 to December 2027.
