MSUFCU Announces Juntos Avanzamos Accreditation

Credit Union to Host Proclamation Ceremony

EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) announced it has earned the Juntos Avanzamos designation for its commitment to serving and empowering the Hispanic community. Translated as “Together We Advance,” Juntos Avanzamos credit unions help those who remain largely unbanked and vulnerable. This initiative showcases that working together with underserved communities is vital to helping achieve financial security and independence.

“Our Juntos Avanzamos designation represents MSUFCU’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion,” said April Clobes, MSUFCU President and CEO. “Everyone deserves a pathway to financial success, and MSUFCU is proud of Amanda Denney’s work to provide an avenue where all members can achieve financial security, their goals, and ultimately, their dreams.”

Amanda Denney is the Credit Union’s Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

To qualify for the Juntos Avanzamos accreditation, credit unions must complete an extensive process to demonstrate how they serve Spanish-speaking people through inclusive underwriting policies, financial education, and affordable loans. This accolade is a strong representation that MSUFCU has made a commitment to cultivating an equitable environment based on inclusion. MSUFCU demonstrates itself as a trusted financial partner by employing bilingual team members, accepting alternative forms of ID such as ITIN (Individual Tax Identification Number), offering products and services suited to meet the financial needs of the Hispanic and immigrant communities, and simply by treating members with respect, regardless of immigration status.

“On behalf of Inclusiv and the Juntos Avanzamos Network, we congratulate MSUFCU for their designation and their commitment to the financial inclusion and empowerment of Hispanics and immigrants in Michigan. MSUFCU has demonstrated that they are truly committed to DEI by adopting policies and procedures that remove barriers to financial inclusion and help the communities the credit union serves reach financial independence and build assets. We welcome the largest university-based Juntos-designated credit union in the U.S. to our network and look forward to our continued collaboration,” said Pablo DeFilippi, EVP at Inclusiv Network.

To celebrate the Juntos Avanzamos designation, the Credit Union will be hosting a proclamation ceremony including food, entertainment, and networking at its Headquarters campus. The event will be held on June 22, 2022, beginning at 1:00 p.m. For further event details, visit
